Is a transmission a transmission?

Hi Everyone,

I have run across a 02 TB on CL that seems to be in really good shape, 110K but needs a transmission. This is my question. Are all 4L60Es the same? I have one that I removed from my 95 Fleetwood before I scrapped it. Would that work in a 02 TB?

Is there a big deal in replacing the tranny in the TB? I have done a couple 4L60Es in Caprices and was curious to know if there was a big difference. Are there any particular gotchas I should be aware of? Are there any tutorials, videos, or write ups on a transmission swap in the TB? I have tried searching but I have not had a lot of luck.

The 95 would not work on an 02. There have been changes done to not just some internals (improvements, upgrades, etc) but also electronic changes going from OBDI to OBDII. Then there are differences like input shafts, housing differences for 4WD transfer case to bolt up vs 2WD that just has a tail shaft, etc.
