Hello people,
Just sharing some info. The 2004 Envoy I recently bought has "Owens" aftermarket running boards that I believe were installed by the dealer when the vehicle was 1st purchased. When I got it the rubber pad was missing off of one side.
I contacted Owens and they can provide replacement material at a cost of $20/ft.
So I did my shopping and ended up buying a roll of BOMEI Anti Slip Traction Tape on Amazon for $20 that's enough to do both running boards twice over and still have a lot of material left.
Cleaning all the leftover adhesive off the running boards was the time consuming part. I started with a sharp putty knife, then used the scratchy side of a kitchen spong, and then finished up with some heavy duty orange rubbing compound. (Prep is 95% of doing this job right) I used one end of the remaining pad to create a stencil for cutting the grip tape ends.
Not only does it look better then original IMO, it doesn't get slippery when wet now.
